Gary Taylor joined Chongshin Do early in 2002 - he was a senior Instructor at another Martial Art - due to the politics found in other organisations he felt the need to look further afield. We are very pleased he chose the Chongshin Do association as he is a first class technician and coach. Gary is Dan graded in a TKD freestyle and has vast knowledge of the grappling systems of Jujitsu and JKD - therefore his ability to adapt his knowledge to the Chongshin Do syllabus was made very easy. He attends regular Grappling Seminars with the likes of Rick Young, Jeff Thompson and other Martial Art greats.
He has four daughters, they all train with him and are themselves first class students.
Gary's vast knowledge and expirience in the Martial Arts shows through with his expert coaching and his technical ability is first class.
Gary has recently achjieved the level of 4th Dan under the watchfull eye of 10th Dan Soke Brian Dossett. Steven Dossett (cage Fighter and Full Contct kickboxer) took Gary through many rounds of grewling kickboxing and MMa in order to asses his ability - lets just say that although many years his senior Gary showed he still has an amazing ability when it comnes to fighting in all areas of combat.
Gary is also an excellent BJJ Fighter and competes at a European level, in 2010 he won Bronze then in 2011 he won GOLD, and January 2013 came back from 6 months out of competition due to shoulder surgery and Won Gold in the purple middleweight senior division and absolute Bronze to fulfil a personal goal.
My name is Gary Taylor; I am 55 years of age married with 4 daughters.
My first experience of Martial Arts was in 1974 training in Shotokan Karate. During the following 15 years plus I was pre-occupied with Military training and many other competitive sports.
In 1990 I started training in a Tao Kwon Do based free style Martial Art, by 1993 I had attained Blue Belt and took the required examination to become a junior instructor and started teaching in the Great Barr area of Birmingham.
In June 1999 I achieved Black Belt 1st Dan, and took the required examinations to become a full National Instructor, taking control of my own clubs in the Great Barr area.
At the same time I have been studying a variety of other Martial Arts including Wing Chun, Jee Kune Do, Western Boxing & Ju Jitsu to name just a few in the search for the knowledge to cover all areas of combat.
In June 2002 I was fortunate to meet with Sensei Martin Blakeway a friend and colleague from my previous association, he introduced me to The Chongshin Do association, I found a very friendly and family orientated association with an open mind to cross training which is so important in the world we now live in. I am presently the Walsall area Senior Instructor for Chongshin Do with six Instructors teaching at my classes. My latest goal is in the Art of Brazilian Ju Jitsu at the famous Gracie Barra club in Birmingham under multiple European and World champion Braulio Estima.
At present I have achieved Brown belt and compete as regularly as possible.
In Early 2015 I was presented with my 5th Dan in Chongshin Do by 10th Dan grand master Brian Dossett, he also confirmed my position as the UK senior coach and examiner for Combat Ju Jitsu within the MAAS group.
Note - the Walsall club is temporarily closed due to Walsall council cut backs ! I plan to open 3 New clubs before April 2016
