COMBAT JIU-JITSU

WHAT IS IT -?
An exciting / safe fast growing fighting system that
incorporates Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing.

3 x 3 minute rounds
Divided into 1 minute kickboxing - followed by 2 mins Free sparring.

1st minute -
kickboxing only - here competitors score when shots are landed - due to the lightweight fighting gloves contact is controlled and kept 'light contact'.
No punches allowed to head - however controlled kicks are allowed. Good kickboxers can earn good points in this first minute. - higher scores for controlled head kicks.
2 minute free-sparring -
Striking is still allowed in this section - both competitors are also allowed to grab, grapple and throw.
Points are awarded for throws / takedowns.
When on the floor points are awarded to well held controlling positions or pins.
Hold / control your opponent for 3 seconds - score points - the Ref will then ask you to 'move on' - competitor must move on to another hold / thus keeping the fight moving.
This allows opportunities for both parties to develop and practice BJJ skills - points are awarded for good control / reversal of position etc.
Controlled striking is still allowed while grappling.
Submissions are allowed (13 years +) .
Submit = Instant win
The winner of the round (either the highest scored in points over the 3 rounds or submission = instant win) goes through to the next round - progress to final bout where medals are awarded for Winner & Runner Up.
