Gary Taylor v Paco Lundstrom in the Purple Belt senior 3 middleweight final, a close fought fight, finishing 2 points each with Gary winning due to Paco receiving a penalty for illegal grips on inner edge of trousers. Paco scored an early takedown, which Gary quickly countered.
Notice the Del a Riva position Gi skirt tie up used by Gary to frustrate and eventually turn over Paco equalling the points and finally winning the fight. Gary commented 'Paco was a very strong opponent, and i knew strength wasn't the answer, the Del a Riva defence is a great way to control bigger and stronger opponents as seen in the video, its just a matter of waiting for the right moment to counter'.
