Midlands receive "The Spirit"
Report
by Kancho Bill Cox
Soke
Dossett was transported to the midlands to give a seminar to his
newly appointed Midlands representative Martin Blakeway. He was
accompanied by one of his Kanchos, (Bill Cox), Sam Gibbons, transported
by Chesham's SCI coach Jim Cockram and Karl (a young student).
On Saturday 30th October 1999 the group arrived at the Midlands
dojo for a days seminar. Soke still nursing a cracked rib. The first
session was for the juniors and as always Soke's humor broke through
giving the juniors practical but fun techniques, ending up, as he
always does, the loser in a fight with a junior. This always goes
down well especially in front of the parents and senior students.
The juniors also enjoyed nunchaku and Viking combat. How Soke manages
to get it all in beats me. He demonstrated his showmanship, humour
and what a professional is all about. I am a proud Kancho. The juniors
left happy with the seniors apprehensive about what was to come.
Many techniques were covered from Aikido, Jujitsu and practice self-defence
for the seniors not forgetting ground and grappling moves. Four
hours seemed like half and hour. Soke was brilliant and I was given
the task of finishing of the techniques. At the end of the session
a few students were graded. At the end of the day, Martin Blakeway
thought he was to do a demonstration but his students had other
plans and presented him with his 2nd Dan Black Belt degree supported
by a large trophy for his outstanding achievement.

"What
a superb day - everyone enjoyed the experience of training with
one of Britons highest ranked Grand-Masters of the Martial Arts,
Soke Brian Dossett. The Jujitsu syllabus learned is now part of
the Chongshin Do syllabus and so once again the "Way of The
Spirit" grows and develops into one of the UK's most versatile,
dynamic and practical Martial arts around."
"Add
to this frame work set out by SCI, the ground fighting of the NJJKC
and the striking skills of TKD we are developing an exciting and
important movement in the Martial Art world."
