The Spirit of Christmas Sponsored Spar 2000

Fighting for Adam

The Chongshin Do members with Sensei Jim Lloyd and his son Adam - Centre.

Many of the 200 members turned out to take part in this great anual event - this year we were helping out one of our own - and the spirit of the event was electric.

Sometimes something special has to happen to evoke the true spirit of Christmas. On Wednesday 20th December the members of Chongshin Do - Way of the Spirit - showed the true meaning of Christmas and made one young man's day and changed his life as he knows it.

Adam Lloyd (son of Sensei Jim) suffers from cerebral palsy in all four limbs. Adam (12 yrs old) goes to Great Wyrley School and is always needing help to get him about. With the aid of this electric chair he can find some independance and be able to transport himself whever he wants. The chairs cost over £2000 so the greatest moment of the night was when the final amount raised was announced - a grand total of over £3,650 This was the definition of true POWER - the ability to change Someone's life - and in the Spirit of Christmas, Adam now has what he needs for Christmas and his future.

A show of superb semi-contact sparring followed by the destruction of wood and building blocks pleased the crowd.
