THREE Muggers V's ONE Black Belt
Sensei Phil Williams was walking home when three muggers where looking for their next victim - unfortunately for them they picked on the wrong man. They squared up to Phil and even after he explained he wanted no trouble - they said "we are taking your phone and your money" as he advanced towards Phil he took no time in making the decision. Within two seconds two of the attackers where on the pavement, unconscious or reeling in pain - the third backed off realising that this stocky 5'5" man was more than they bargained for!
I have been involved in the Martial Arts for over 20 years now and I have heard many stories like this one - the truth is MARTIAL ARTS WORK ! - a trained individual WILL have a plan - an option - (and not freeze or panic in such a scary moment) - in most cases the option is always to defuse the situation and confront it from a confident but assertive angle - being in control of the situation - however if there is no-option (like this incident) then the many hours / weeks/ months/ years of training will take over and all that is needed is a trained mind - good technique, speed and accuracy.
