2003 Newsletter by Sensei Martin Blakeway The
Summer seems to have finally arrived longer days and shorter nights (for a month
anyway!) The good news continues - During the Summer we have some great events
& seminars to help expand your Martial Art experience & learning. Looking
forward to the Autumn & end of the year there are Competitions & Gradings
for many - are you making the steps to achieve your goals you set yourself at
the beginning of this year? More good news - Many new faces have joined the
groups and the classes are buzzing with enthusiastic members - a warm welcome
to all NEW members - we hope you enjoy your training and learn much within this
Martial Art. - A special welcome to Black Belt Gary Taylor & his family
who have joined us this week - To all - "Life is a journey of experiences
from which we learn and develop - keep up your training and continue the learning
through the experiences in this Martial Art and develop ones body & mind"
Grading News - Congratulations to all the many
graduates who are now another step along their journey within Chongshin Do - especially
those who excelled and were awarded the grading award - well done all - for those
who were not promoted - remember "Failure does not exist - it is merely a
lesson learned and a chance to prepare for success". Junior Gradings this

Dossett Training weekend (June) I
need the names of anyone wanting to attend this weekend with of the worlds highest
ranked Martial Artists - 10th Dan Soke Brian Dossett - June 21st & 22nd -
at SCI/HQ - Surrey. Sensei Steve Pride will be going down along with a few high
grades - if you want to add BKBU kickboxing diplomas & SCI Jujitsu Coaching
Diplomas to your Martial Art qualifications - then see Sensei Steve Pride or Martin
Blakeway for details. Meditation
Workshop - for inner peace (Sept) Its been over 2 years since we
had a meditation workshop for our Black Belts & senior grades - it proved
a very interesting and enlightening afternoon - September Sat 6th or Sun 7th -(please
specify which day you prefer) An afternoon spent with qualified Hypnotherapist
/ Healer and Meditation Expert - Jacky Blakeway - Learn Meditation techniques
to help find inner peace & healing /develop the tools for relaxation &
meditation - All Black Belts should attend - Club Instructors and senior Grades

& Full Contact Kickboxing Event (Oct) October 5th - Gatwick
- Following the huge success of KO'dIII - Gatwick Kickboxing Club in association
with MAAS & BKBU will be holding a kickboxing tournament - This will then
lead any fighters wanting to make a name for themselves at the MAAS Championships
when BKBU Titles will be at stake - The MAAS Championships will be at the end
of Nov / or start of Dec - Fight Club - plus Black Belt prep 8.30 -
10pm Thursdays Black Belt preparation classes - after class Thursday - Arthur
Terry Sports centre - Starts NOW - preparing for Dan Grading in December (all
Red Belts should attend also for 1St Kup Black Tag Grading on same day) Members
wanting to keep "fight" fit ready for comps also welcome. SOCIAL
EVENTS COMING SOON With an improvement in the weather we can look forward
to some great outdoor events over the Summer to include Paintballing
-James Eccles has been making investigations into "a day at war" ! -
If you are interested we need to know - Dates to be confirmed Summer Camp
- During August we hope to visit the Snowdonia National Park with another Chongshin
Do camping mission - please let us know if you are interested. Possible dates
9/10 or 16/17th August. Let us know which you prefer so we can start to make arrangements.
Special
announcement Sensei Wayne Whitehouse was married this week on the beach (somewhere
hot!!) Congratulations to him - he is enjoying his honeymoon for the next two
weeks - his Monday night class is covered by Sensei Jim Lloyd. Also next month
will see Sensei Steve Pride tie the knot with his fiancé' Rachel - we wish
them all the best too!
