Review Paul "Terminator" Taylor "Asta La vista - Baby" .
Showsport International Pro - Am Show- Gala Leisure Centre - West Brom
Paul enters the ring to the cheers of the small crowd of friends & Chongshin
Do members that came to support him. The crowd at least 5oo strong went
mad when the local man - Paul's opponent came in. Air horns went off and
the crowd seemed to go crazy - "Paul" I said looking into his eyes "go
to that place in your mind NOW - wherever it is - go there and flick that
switch" - it was time to upset this cheering crowd.
Paul had a bad weekend with news of his Grans illness and he was in no
mood to mess about. The look in his eyes told me he was in "that" place
and the switch was turned to ON.
Round
one As always the fighters weigh each other up and both Paul and his
opponent play cat & mouse tactics Paul getting in some heavy body kicks
and his opponent putting in some heavy punching. Most of which landed
to the strong professional guard of Paul. The first round ended about
even and Paul was beginning to warm up.
Round
Two Once again the crowd firmly behind the other man seemed to help
him, getting in a couple of blows - airhorns went off each time he seemed
to land one - Paul the pro he is kept counter punching and catching him
with some great heavy kicks to the body. It was obvious this guy was no
push over and the round ended Paul ahead on Points. Paul sat in the corner
and seemed tired - perhaps the mental strain of the weekend with his bad
news and with the Seni show may have been a lot to have on ones mind -
mental stress can weaken the body more than physical exercise.

Round
Three Kancho Gary & I had told Paul that when we shout "Taylor" it
means that the round has only 30 seconds left - this will be the cue for
Paul to switch into "Terminator" mode ! - The round started as before,
Paul putting in some great counter strikes - then Paul seemed to get his
second wind and started dictating the fight forcing the opponent into
his own corner. With the shouts of "Taylor - Taylor" from Kancho Gary
& I, Paul hit overdrive and let fly with some great combinations - then
BAM. Paul unleashed a turning kick from his lead leg that knocked his
opponent clean out - even before he had hit the floor the big white spark
had closed down the brain. Immediately we celebrated - who could resist
- it was a peach of a kick and a great way to finish - one Paul had predicted
before the fight.

Taylor waits as ref looks at the helpless opponent.
However the celebrations were dampened somewhat when the guy didn't move
for a few minutes - The crowd now silent and the attention around the
prostrate figure looked frantic. This continued and time dragged with
the paramedics giving oxygen and emergency first aid to the unconscious
man.

The paramedics
attending to the knocked out opponent
Thankfully
after what seemed an eternity he rose - visibly shaken and still confused
- Paul walked over to check he was alright and the two fighters shook
hands.
We could now celebrate this great victory. Even in the changing rooms
the other guy was still visibly shaken and confused. The crowd now silent
we slipped away - anything would be an anti-climax after that.

Another convincing
victory!
So
