Taylors Route to the top of the WORLD

Taylor Takes South African World Title

The Terminator Strikes Again - Paul Taylor brings back the South African Title

Paul Taylor (England) V Henry Austin (South Africa)
Sensei Paul Taylor made the long haul flight to South Africa last week in a bid to take an international. Title from one of South Africa's best kickboxers - Henry Austin.
Paul only had a couple of days to acclimatise and get used to the altitude in Johannesburg. Paul's opponent was 6" taller and weighing in a few Kg's lighter so Paul was unable to eat the day before in order to keep the fight on, and weigh in at the right weight.
Paul knew this was going to be a hard fight but he had come a long way for this and nothing was going to stop him giving everything he had to take the title. The fight took place in a huge Casino in Johannesburg and was televised by local and Sky Television teams. A full dressing room interview and weigh in built up the atmosphere as the crowds gathered outside.
Paul's fighter was announced to a huge reception the MC commentating that he had an impressive record of 13 fights and 13 KO's - this was not going to be a push over by either fighter!
The fighters squared up and with a brief word from the ref they set about what the do best - the fight was on! Paul was finding a few low punches were being delivered and even when explaining this to the ref he was dismissed quickly - when fighting on foreign soil the odds will always be against you -
The next round Paul put in a low one himself and that stopped the African and dropped him to the canvas. He didn't do it again after that.
Paul admits that at the beginning of the eighth round he was very tired, exhausted from the journey the altitude and the lack of fuel in his belly. The African sensed this and came right up to Paul who was still in his corner - This was just the fuel Paul needed - seeing him taunting and egging him on - Paul got up fast and pushed him into his own corner - the crowd now sensing a victory from their local man but Paul pushed forward round after round - taking and giving big shots. Both men very tired as they came into the final few rounds - The African never been this far and Paul's first time over the five round bell. New territory for both and a relief when the final bell went at the end of the twelfth.

The decision was on the judges and our champ and Chongshin Do Instructor got the decision on points
Well done Paul from everyone at Chongshin Do -
I am so proud to be able to write this newsletter - 5 years ago Paul came into the Bloxwich Dojo a beginner and student and now a British, World Amature Champion & an English & international Professional Kickboxing Champion, a great coach & friend - Great stuff - well done.!!!
What a great future ahead of him now with the promoters saying that it was one of the best 12 round fights they had seen. (we known how good he was for a long time !)
The local TV will show it on their channels next week and SKY will show it in the near future - look out for that
