Fight Day 2001 Review
by Sensei Martin Blakeway
KO 1 Reviewed What can I say about this day & evening except it was one
of the most exciting and entertaining days of my life and definitely one
of the proudest. Firstly KO'd 1 - Fight Night ,could not have happened
if it wasn't for the brilliant staff that helped on the day / evening
and I would like to start by thanking them all on behalf of Paul Taylor
& Myself, Soke and MAAS.

During the day time semi event many of our qualified senior members managed
the ring for most of the day - Steve Pride, Wayne whitehouse helped Soke,
Paul & I with refereeing and judging, Chris Whiting on timekeeping and
scoring, Vince McKenzie, Richard Barrett and others helped in cornering
the Chongshin Do members. Others helped in collecting score cards and
other duties to keep the show running. All in all the day event went very
smoothly - no-one was upset with the decisions made (which means they
were right) and the general ring management seemed like we'd done it for
years. Thanks to everyone for their involvement.

Once
again there would be no event if there were no fighters - I am extremely
proud of all those that entered the ring for the semi event - I know you
all enjoyed the experience and learned a great deal about kickboxing events,
the atmosphere and the adrenaline rush when competing. All the fights
were kept under strict control and the Chongshin Do members did the club
and yourselves proud. It is a credit to our Martial Art with most of our
fighters coming out on top! There are too many to mention you all but
THANKS & well done. I would like to say a special well done to Richard
Barrett for stepping in the ring and "warmed" himself up with a semi-contact
in the day as well as cornering for many and still had to compete in the
Full-contact later on. Everyone fought well especially Vince McKenzie
and James Eccles who's fights were extended to three rounds due to the
fact that they were clean, technical and an excellent display of semi-contact.

Soke even commented on James Eccles fight that he should be up for a junior
Title soon ! - Well done James and everyone for being involved and making
it all happen.

Once
the day was over the night time preparation took place - the junior area
was cleared for more seating and the atmosphere was building ready for
the main event.
